When a depressive episode and/or time of increased anxiety has you down, it can be extremely trying to be patient. A minute feels like an eternity. So, patience with D & A is difficult to come by. However, patience, being the virtue that it's said to be, is important.
Be patient with yourself - you are struggling - most likely through no "fault" of your own. Brain chemistry can be fickle. Do what you can to get through the next minute, then the next, then the next hour, and so on. Keep hope alive, and remember that each tomorrow is an opportunity to start "feeling better."
Be patient with others. They probably don't understand your situation. They have their own issues and circumstances to navigate. If someone doesn't text you back right away, be patient. If you are in need of their help - need to vent or hear a friendly voice - let them know how you feel if you're comfortable.
Finally, be patient with finding a treatment that may help. Usually, the first therapist, the first medication, the first session of acupuncture, isn't the "prince." Many frogs will have to be kissed to find that provider of relief. Keep going. Feeling better is always a possibility. Be patient.
