Welcome! to Spark Joy, a blog focused on helping humans with depression and/or anxiety.
This first post is a way of introducing myself, and the reasons that I created this blog. I am a human who has endured years of horrific depressive episodes, from mild to severe. No matter the severity, they're all horrific.
I've also had bouts with anxiety in the same degrees of variation. I'm not a doctor, and I don't have any formal training or education in the various areas that diagnose and/or treat depression and anxiety. I'm a regular old human who has some stories and personal perspectives to share. I believe that through sharing, we all benefit!
I hope that you, the reader, will find my short posts helpful in some way. If you are in a depressive episode now, or ever have been - or if you have anxiety on its own, or mixed together with depression - I hope this blog will provide some benefit.
A short topic for this post - some of the feelings that come along with depression and anxiety - so you will know you are not alone. Many other humans have in the past, are currently, and/or will in the future face the ugliness of one or both. How it affects each person can be a bit different, but there are many commonalities. Again, you are not alone!!
Thank you for taking the time read this first post. I am going to do my best to post at least once a week. I'm a person with a long history of depression and anxiety, so, I make no long term promises. (It's okay if you don't, either!) In the future, I'll be posting insights from some actual "professionals," personal experiences, and resources that a depressed and/or anxious human might find helpful.
Peace!
